Track Day Tyres Neccesary?

I'm booked on my first ever track day next month. I've got the standard cup turinis on my cup at the moment with toyo proxes on all round.

I'm looking at getting some 15s and the ones I have seen have got nearly new toyo proxes t1r's on. My question is, would these be ok for track use or do I need to buy some more track orientated rubber?

I'm sure ill buy some more track orientated tyres if I do a few other days but will these do me my first couple of days?

I won't be going totally crazy, I like to think of myself as a 'mechanically sympathetic' driver......

ive never been on track but iv heard people say that for the 1st few track days use normal tyres as it makes you a better driver as you learn more :)

t1rs will be fine for your first plus not to be if its wet.
and no matter what tyre it is your on you will definitely enjoy the day

Defo not, I did all 3 days last year and the morning on Sunday on the same very worn set of PE2s. Don't get me wrong, the A048s I used in the afternoon allow you to go a lot faster I don't think they are great for learning track driving. It moves around more on PE2s and the limit is much less sudden so you get used to the car moving around quicker than on track tyres. I have no regrets at all about the way I've done it.

Ill probably get the 15s then and keep the turinis for road use. It'll save me shredding them before the mot!

They're so cheap it doesn't matter!

Yeah I thought the same when using Rainsports as they were only 30quid each just the hassle of changing them again after 2weeks of use and a morning at Llandow! lol
