Track days for little engines

Are there any track days for smaller engined clios/cars. I quite fancy razzing my 1.2 around a track!

Cheers
Charlie

Just go on any day.. just let people pass ya if they need - on the other hand, if your car handles better than anything on there.. they might not be able to.

Always remember Europe Trip movies, When Eddd was in JamesGs RT.. not much stuff wanted to pass him then!

I fancy doing it, but the cost is quite a bit! :(

If I did one somewhere, would anyone do it with me in another 1.2?? Id feel like a bit of a twit on me own surrounded by valvers, 172s and cups!

how much would it cost?

or go along to a ccc action day at castle coombe if you are in the southwest, dont have to book it all you do is turn up pay for your run and wait for your go :D

Honestly mate it doesnt matter. I went to one last year and there was some guy in a 1.4 Astra having as much fun as anyone else. You may think your car is slow compared to a valver, but my 172 is bloody slow compared to a Noble M12, and you usually get a few of those on trackdays! As an example I paid £159 for a day at Donington park last November - its usually a bit more (say £200) during the summer.

Do it - youll wonder why you waited so long.

loony whats this ccc all about? its a pucca track very fast and i would love to go.
they get held at castle coombe pretty often ccc is car and car conversions, basically open track day, you pay for a run and queue up you get given a safety brief before going out regaurding rules and need a helmet, or you can borrow one of their loaners, plus you have to have your arms and legs covered(no sorts and t-shirts) and thats about it, you can run as often as you want but if its busy youll get less runs in. you get a 5 lap run each time benr knows the cost of the run as i didnt take my car out, hope this helps :D

yeah i might do it then. sounds like fun. rousey...i think ill have to take all the ice out of my car and stick the standard 14s back on! then i might be able to keep up with you up to about 60!!!

I took my 1.2 to brands (unmodified) and it was pretty dire, i thought it might be a laugh but theres just not enough power to get the back to step out, so it just rolled around, almost felt like it was going to flip over!

After a few laps my brakes were useless, and to teach me a lesson, my front left completely f**ked at graham hill bend, i panicked, lifted off and wobbled towards a wall where i lost my bumper...

Even if you have the car lowered and other modifications theres no getting away from the fact youre car will struggle like hell, its soul destroying stuff, youll want to sell it after!

Best thing in my opinion is to go with a mate who has a fast car and go halves.

Brakes, sound like you need to go round a bit slower mate.

I raced a little in the old Renault Cup in the USA. We used Alliances and Encores which were basically Renault 11 1.4s. They were pretty slow but we had an awful lot fo fun with them!

I would venture to say that most of the current Clios would blow them into the weeds.

Shagged brakes and tyres are often a result of poor driving technique. Over use or using the brakes too genlty often results in them overheating and likewise trying to steer too much or carrying too much speed in corners wil fry the best of tyres, particularly in FWD cars.

The secret of driving a slow car quickly is to use it within its limits, not to try and keep up with the faster machinery.
