  ITB'd GDI Original?

Sorry im always doing that^^^

Has anyone experimented much with tyre pressures whilst doing track days or 1/4 mile sprints.

Im going to be at donington on oct 9th, gonna be changing to 15s from 17s, just wondering if anyone had any advice?

Thanks.

Carl.

195/50/15 TOYO T1-Rs (if theyre the new tyre, if not T1-S, cant remember), running on 15" compomotive cxrs.

If thats any help.

Cheers.

i would say start out with them at around 30psi and if you see the shoulders rolling then pump them up at 2 psi at a time. play with them, see what suits your driving style.

or just run them how you would run them on the road.

people do pump their tyres up for trackdays, but its normally if the tryes roll onto the shoulders.

for 1/4 miling drop them to 20 - 25 psi

^ spot on, thing is on your 1st trackday or if your unexperienced youll tend to chuck the car about and twitch the steering alot, which will as yoz says make the car roll on to the side walls of the tyres..."In short youll go through a set of tyres very quickly." I went up 3psi for silverstone, so about 32 all round on 17s.

I just ran normal pressures on a set of 15" T1ss at FCS, my logic being that I wanted to learn how it drives under the normal set up that I run for the road.

I didnt find much damage to the shoulders/sidewalls, despite managing to get the whole thing sliding at about 70mph after backing off mid-bend... lol

I ran my 195/45/16s at 34psi at Ty Croes and found a huge improvement over running them at the standard road pressure.

I first ran my tyres on normal pressures and it was rolling inot the sidewalls alot, coudl have been teh fact iw as goign sideways too.

At anglesey i ran 34 fronts, and 26 rears, seemed fine, thats a stripped mk1 clio on 195/50/r15

at anglesey i ran mine at 30 psi front and rear iirc, didnt have any problems and was happy with it, althought at donny i will be playing with them throught the day see if it improves or gets worse lol

btw thats on 185/55/15 eagle F1s

i run my goodyears at 34/32 anyway, cos i hate em the sidewalls are way too soft for me- i know i know, should have fitted mitchys

Thanks people plenty to work from there. I was at fcs and on the track too, it was my 1st time on a track (or airfield as it were) so i thought it was a good intro. Looking forward to donington, work on my driving skills :D

From what ive read i guess normal tyre pressures seem to be the way forward.

benji, michelins are WORSE for sidewall wear (even at 38psi!!)
yep, they wear quicker, but they feel a lot stiffer than the goodyear.
