If an item goes missing, TrackR's Crowd GPS network will help you find it. When another user of the TrackR app comes within 100ft range of your lost item, you will receive a GPS update of where your item is.

Hmm so it only works if other people in the area have the TrackR app... presumably it's a Bluetooth low energy device and it gets the GPS location and sends the alert from the smartphone.

Yea an old smartphone or one of those cheap eBay ones are your best bet.

There's nothing you can do if they bring jammers and detectors to the party, but it's better than nothing.
