Trade in price for Imports

All imports have a 1 cat system and UKs have a 2 cat box.

When MOT dawns Ive been told that imports could fail on emissions and a replacement UK exhust system is £1500.

Before you jump down my throat Ive heard this from a reno dealer when they replaced my faulty system on warranty.

Mine was a UK 172, it goes tommorrow to a new home.
Sorry but how can a car fail its emmisions if its missing a silencer??? Fair play if was missing the cat, but a silencer does just that. Makes the car quieter by letting the gases expand and slow down!!! What about all these people with "performance exhausts", their exhausts are technically out of speck so would fail - i think not!!!

Its seems that British people have been scare mongered by our UK motor trade into thinking that european/imported cars are inferior. There may be minor differences and you also havent got the full warranty back up of a UK model but as far as im aware theyre all made by Renault and come out of the same factory!!!

EXACTLY!!

But the trouble is a lot of people are stupid and believe the crap that dealers feed them.

Cars are expensive in this country because the Manufacturers know they can charge over the odds as most of the british public are prepared to pay. If everyone bought an imported car the the manufacturers would think......."hey, I dont think we can rip of the British with infalated prices anymore, they arent as stupid as we thought".......!!!!!!!!!

I certainly wont be buying my next car from a dealer. It will defo be an import, either a new WRX - £16,800 plays £20000, or the new V6 if it comes in dirt cheap on an import!

BTW anyone seen the new PPP for the latest WRX, you could have a Focus RS eater for a grand and a half less!!!

hang on. Now Im getting confused. The point of cars conforming to EU standards is that they pass EU agreed regualtions, correct? So, an EU agreed emissions regulation in Spain would be the same as an emission regulation here, right? So why two different exhaust set ups? Whats the point of that if they need to conform to pan EU regulations? Whats all that about then?
