Triggering External Flash on Android

google hasn't come up with any proper solutions.

anyone know of anything? I want to be able to trigger a external flash from a tablet/smart phone

does the external flash have light sensor?
if it does a flash should trigger it.
I wonder if the LED from a 'phone will though, as it might lack intensity or have to long a duration.

It depends on what sort of flash you are trying to trigger. Godox sell something for smartphone flash triggers, but it's not cheap.

what about if you want to use the front camera which doesn't have a flash?

There's an app and a device called trigger trap. It's for cameras to use with a phone, you can set it to go off via sound, light, something passing through a beam etc. You might be able to link it to a remote flash.
