turbo’d valver

got a mate who wants to get a turbo package (ie including cams, pistons, manifold, chip) for his valver.

wants to know what is the best one to get, and where to get it?

also, is there anyone on here who has performance figures from turbod valvers? ie bhp etc.

worth doin?

Arrr why does this forum keep saying Im spaming stupid thing

Anyway Ive got some deatils of specs etc at work will get them for you tomorrow.

There was at least1 company selling the kits but thye have finished now I belive

Also depending on the Hp/ budget you mate had pdepends on the work required 190hp should be fine with just an extra head gastget to lower the compression ratio.

However if he wants the 300+hp he will need the new pistons etc.

They need to decide how much they want to spend Im guessing £6k for 300hp and £2k for 190hp.

Not sure he will need some of the parts you mention it depends on his spec I think the stock casm should be ok for reasonable low pressure turboes ie upto 250hp.

Its not worth it IMO though as for the same money you could have faster standard car. But then again thats not goign to stand out as much is it.

Throttle bodies should get him about 190hp for 2k though

i think its worth it if he wants to do it

i plan to return to another valver clio years down the line and have it turbo charged, it might cost, but what a sleeper

power to match the handling

valvers rock:devilish:

I looked into all of this a while ago when I had my old Valver. Briefly:

- Head and cams in an average tune will give a genuine 150+bhp on the 16V (as my old one had). Not especially economical in one go - maybe £3k.

- Throttle bodies. Best results when with other tuning. Probably get more bhp when used with the above. Way more than £2k. Most kits cost more than that before fitting etc.

- BB Tunings "basic" turbo conversion probably costs about £6k all in for 200bhp. Their higher output one is probably nearer £10k. I hear that the gearboxe doesnt like more than 250bhp and that this is where they recommend stopping the quest for bhp without getting mega expensive.

Turbo conversion a bit expensive I think, throttle bodies would get power down a bit better and would be faster round track IMO. Just need 3k to get them!

Problem with throttle bodies on the valver is SPACE! there just isnt any, and you have to compromise quite a bit on the induction length and most (if not all) kits dont even give you trumpets (cos of the space problem) but instead give you 4 little cone filters instead.... not the best in the world.

cheers guys, im sure hell be grateful for the info

he has about 3-3.5k to spend on it. he was thinking maybe the bb turbo kit, he has a mate that can fit it all for free or there abouts so it would hopefully just be for parts.?

Is supercharging it an option? Sure I see a pic on here a while ago of one on a valver. They dont sound as nice though (imo).

  300bhp MR2 Turbo

BB charge in the region of £5k for the low pressure turbo conversion including fitting and VAT etc. This is good for 200bhp.

Its £7,400(ish) for the high pressure one. Easily 250bhp pushing 300bhp if you have extras.

If I remember the book I have Ill bring it work tomorrow and give you an idea of how much work they do even for the low pressure kit.

They relocate the battery to the boot for starters for lack of space!!
