How can I turn the engine over by hand? Is it just a case of putting a socket on the crank pulley? (for a MK1 1.8 16v btw)
The reason I ask is the I am changing the gearbox on the clio and having removed the old box I have put the new one into the engine bay but have to fit the new clutch which is a bit tight for space. I have already undone the top mount and moved the engine across as far as possible but I can't get the gearbox to sit in a way such that I can tighten the bottom bolts on the clutch. I can get to the top ones though, so thought if I could just rotate the engine by hand I could turn the flywheel allowing me to tighten them all easily.
Is there a cover that need to be removed to reveal the crank pully?
If anyone has any other suggestions let me know.
Thanks.
