Turo App - Does anyone rent their car out on it?

So, I've recently discovered the Turo App whilst in the US. For those that don't know, you rent "everyday people's" cars.

Does anyone rent their car out on the App? What are your general experiences, do you make money from it?

A curiosity more than anything, I don't think the wife would be keen on me renting ours out, but I wondered if it was a way of having yet another car!

Rented this the weekend gone, A Dodge Charger SRT Scatpack.....was good fun....!!! Very comfortably fast.

I can't imagine your insurance would cover any loss or damage that happened when it was rented.

Does the app provide full insurance?

This is what I was also wondering, was hoping someone could shed light on it!

It seems that the app does offer levels of Insurance, so the vehicles are insured, it must just be something that you have to state and agree with the insurance company first, or, is fully insured from Turo.

It's quite the operation and there are a lot of cars available, so there is cover offered.

There's 2 levels of insurance on the app. One is substantially cheaper but comes with a massive excess, the other is a bit more but has an excess which normal people can afford.

I rented an F350 when I was over in Vegas. The whole process was pretty seamless, and still cheaper than renting from one of the 'proper' outfits. I 100% would never rent out something of my own though.... fastest cars on the planet are hire cars.
One of the lads on our trip rented a Mustang and sent it sideways into a kerb trying to be a celebrity and drift it.

Most UK finance agreements in the UK wouldn't let you.
I expected this to be the case, it wouldn't be purchased on finance anyway. It probably won't happen, my mind was just working overtime as the want for another car grows stronger....!!

I saw a YouTube short about this recently. Some guy rented out his hellcat and said the guy paid for 500 miles. The tracker showed it went straight to the local racetrack for a few laps. I doubt the insurance covers that!

The problem (one of many) is you can’t have two policies on a vehicle and that pud have to tell your existing insurer who would likely cancel your policy or charge a massive increase. You’d need specialist insurance and I’d guess the cost would outweigh the income.

Yea, if your insurer catches wind of it you're fucked.

May as well be blacklisted

I drove the charger straight to the dragstrip......but I resisted entering it for test and tune, even with my friends telling me to do otherwise! It sat in the car park!
