Now i would like a a new TV.

I have been on avforums and tbh, i am no techno geek and i really can't go through p100 page threads on tv's etc. It is a total minefield.

I would like 37 inches of love to satisfy my demands.

Found this samsung what you reckon?

It has 3HDMI or something. All i know is i am meant to have that. But i have no idea why! lol

And it is 8000/1 or something also? That i am lead to beleive is good too.

This Samsung is £599.99 which is really all i would like to pay as it is only a tv at the ned of the day.

Can anyone explain in idiot terms what all this funk about tv's is and also inform me of any good compariosn sites to find it as cheap as possible?

anyone help a tv noob?

do i need 1080 or whatever that means?

If I was buying just now, I'd ensure full 1080 resolution, but they do cost more. Last time I looked, real 1080p plasma sets were very expensive. I guess you want LCD?

yeha i reckon lcd tbh as plasma get burn don't they? plus the sentiment seems to be go with lcd. overall i have no idea. i want to spend £600. and consume 37 inches of love. that is the requirment.

Well, plasmas can suffer image retention short term, and can burn if abused. But, it matters not, because if you wanted a 1080p plasma, you'd need to up your budget by a factor of 10. For £600 you may even struggle with 1080 LCD, sop just go with a good 720 LCD IMO.

I work with LCD's all the time being an AV Technician!

Think about the viewing distance, recommended is to be 2 and 1/2 times the size of the screen away, so 37" would need to be about 90" but you should be fine around 70" onwards.

1080 is a must now, I have a SAmsung 32" and its amazing.

Look on www.empiredirect.co.uk, cheapest prices about.

Just had quick look and Samsung 37" £629.99

Girlfriend has 32" in this model and its awesome. Plus shops will charge 2-300 quid more than the internet!

PM me if you ned more help :)

Same model as above, but £30 cheaper and free delivery. My dad bought one from these guys a few months back and had no hassle.

Their 32" is great, but I don't really have much to compare it with, plus they don't have anything HD yet lol.

I think KDF made a thread about these Samsung models a while back that's how I found that one for my dad. He's a smaaaaaal geek, so I trusted his word lol.

Dont get too hard over the 1080p shizzle Seb

At that screen size you wont notice much difference in quality between 720p. Not to mention feck all is in 1080p at present.
