tweeter positions

ok as my new alpine tweters dont fit in the normal places (too big)

i want to put them somewhere else question is where?

In the door pillars??

the best thing to do is wire them up and them blue tack them around in different posistions to see where they sound best.

i seen a well neat tweater install..take the cards of the door pillars...use speaker rings, glue them onto the cards...then recloth the whole door card...looked so nice:)

bit of work though

anywhere within 3 inches of the mids

it gives the impression that all the sound i coming from the same place, whereas if you use standard locations (i.e. dash, a-pillar, mirror back-plates) the sound appears very separated

to get the best soundstage ideally your tweeters need to be as low in the kick wells as possible, and not far from your mids but not far infront, either the same distance or behind the mid, this like bam says will give u a wide soundstage, the ideal point for tweeters and mids is for them firing behind the drivers head about a foot behind, so technically your left door speaker will have a different angle to your right door as your right door is more facing u,

or alternativley use a headunit with time alignment or "correction" to delay the firing of the drivers door speaker so it gives the impresion that the speaker is further away,

hope that makes sense, you will be amazed at the difference in SQ u will achive by having your components on "axis" (technical term for correct position)

hi,

i got an awsome sound system in my car and also had

the position problem with my tweeters.

after some sleepless nights (alot of them) we got the best position for it.

the door pilars close to the dushboard facing 20 degrees upwords.

try to put them there and play with the exact location.

the soundstage is in the middle of the the windscreen.

bye and good luck
