two recent issues (please help)

Hi Guys

Proud owner of a 172 P2 for over 6 months now.

First coulple of things that have recently started/happend which might be related but thought this would be the best place to start.


Was driving back from thorpe park yesterday and noticed the SERV and Traction Control warning light appear and stay on constant. Went into the services, turned car off and then back and lights never appeared again, and are still off with no problems. When they did appear the car still felt fine no issues. Not sure if this could have been something that just randomly happend or if there is a problem still? Anyone have an idea on this? I dont want to link the car up if its all o.k as no other lights are on.

Second problem is this wiered vibration. When I hit 2k-3k something sounds like its vibrating on the passenger side, like metal or something, it does then dissapear after or before these revs. its not like a rattle or knock literally like metal or something vibrating. I do have the JMS induction kit but dont think this would cause this. I do admit if i dont push the car i dont hear it, its only when i pull away quick and sometimes when the revs drop. Not sure if anyone has come across this.

Any help would be much respected.

for the vibration i would suggest a heat shield may be the problem? If the light has gone out and stayed out i wouldnt worry, just worry if it comes back and stays on

thanks mate, heat shield? where is that and how eassy is it to repair/fix if its just vibrating? garage job or diy?

depending on where it is, cable ties would be fine

Rattle is heatshhield or baffles in the exhaust centre section .

common problem too from reading up, everyone seems to think its most likely the centre section shield
