Type R Component Speakers - tweeters Crackling

Is there any way i can 'turn' down the tweeters, so to speak.
The speakers themselves are perfect, its just when i have them at a relatively high volume the tweeters start to emit a high pitched crackling sorta sound?
Surely they shouldnt be doing that.

can you change the db on the crossovers?
if so change that.

wat head unit u got? on mine u can individually adjust low, mid and high levels

yeah you can change the db on the crossover. ive got it at '0db' right now.
Ive got the Alpine 9855r head unit. Only just got that as well, havent quite got the hang of all the settings yet so maybe there is something in there.
