Tyre Chains

Car  Clio Trophy / RB182
As I have to be mobile at winter, I was thinking about buying some chains...

Does anybody else use them? Are they actually worth it? Any problems/damaged caused etc...?

I've never seen them used in the UK at all. Maybe if you live in Norway you'd be best getting some, but you'd probably be alright in the UK!

Well we get some quite heavy snow up here...it's just that last year i saw an S3 screaming about in the snow with them on making it look easy.

Snow tyres maybe worth checking out rather than chains. People that use them generally swear by them.

Off course the biggest problem with snow is all the other fannies that don't know what the fcuk they're doing ;).

Snow/ winter tyres are your best bet. You would be amazed at the difference that they make. I have blasted through really deep snow just with winter tyres with a fair amount of grip, and only needed to use chains once when I lived in the Alps, and that was to get through an avalanche.

Chains are only needed in the most severe conditions, but winter tyres are also much safer for general wet/ winter conditions. If they weren't so expensive in 18's, I'd get a set.

Get yourself some wheels and bang on some winter tyres
