Tyre choice

Have checked the tyre poll but doesnt really answer my question.

Choice are-

Toyo T1R in 195/45/16 £64.17 each fitted
Yokohama Parada spec 2 in 205/45/16 £93.67 each fitted
Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 in 195/45/16 £95 each fitted

Any other recomendations?

What im wondering is will i notice a difference in grip between the 195 and 205 width?

Thanks

Whatever you get, get 205 not 195. I'm going to give the T1R's next time, but pzero's are also decent.

I checked recently and the Michelin PE2s were tricky to get hold of, to say the least...

I'd disagree on the Exalto's. F1's were better, as were the Pirelli's, and probably the continentals as well!

I was thinking of getting 205. Im guessing its the general rule, more rubber=more grip.

205/45/16 toyos are £68.31 each fitted. Only £4 more :)

Are Paradas and PE2's £30 each,better??

Ive heard people rate Toyos, but then some people hate them. Someone highly recommended Paradas aswell.

The parada's are good when dry, not so good when it's wet. Never tried the T1R, but IIRC they use them on the exotics where Fred works (ferrari's etc) without any issues.

I settled for PE2s on the front and Toyos on the rear, Toyos not been fitted till Tues though so cant tell you if there any good yet

Mate has them on Civic Type R and rates them however

I just put 4 PE2's on My Cup and would highly recommend them, so much as to say I dont think I will use anything different in the future, and Kwikfit were doing the £82 a corner when i got mine a few weeks back.

The new Michelin Exalto 2s on the Clio 182, however, are useable all day, every day, allowing the potential of the chassis to be fully exploited, for longer.
The combination of the Exalto 2 and the optional 'Cup' chassis is an absolute killer. The headline figures don't do it justice. The 179bhp motor, a 0-60mph of 7.1sec and a 139mph maximum aren't shabby, but you'll not conquer the Civic Type-R or Focus RS in a bar-room contest. Meet one of them out on the road and it'll be an entirely different story...
Chassis details aside, one fundamental advantage the Clio has over all credible opposition is that it's significantly lighter. At 1080kg it's 120kg less weighty than the Civic and undercuts the Focus RS by the best part of 200kg.
Balance-wise the chassis is on the ever-so-slightly-nervous side of neutral. Its relatively light weight and the Michelin tyres mean this Clio changes direction better than any front-wheel-drive car I've ever driven. It adopts that super-aggressive, tarmac- rally-car, flat-cornering patter - body roll is virtually non-existent.

Seriously, try getting hold of some of some PE2s at the moment though, the lead times being quoted are stupid

I run T1R's, when its greasy I do get some understeer but aside from that they're not to bad at all!

£273 fitted for 4 Toyos 205/45/16. Dont seem to bad really.

£380 fitted for 4 PE2'S. 195/45/16......

Ask yourself why ?? You get what you pay for .

I've said it before and i'll say it again . I had both the Toyo T1R's and T1S's on my 172 and it was absolute sh!te in the wet . If you gave me a set i wouldn't put them on my car . The Toyos give good grip in the dry , granted , so will most tyres but as we live in a country where it rains hell of alot it makes sense to go with a tyre that performs well in the wet .

Michelins wipe the floor with Toyos everytime imo .

MICHELIN 195/45R16.84V EXALTO PE2 £76.88 each delivered .Get them fitted locally for a fiver a corner and Bobs your uncle .

my car a 182
I've not had any problems with the Toyo's on the front, and on my second set. I still have the original exaltos on the rear. The toyos will brake traction and squirm on cold roads in second once past 5000 rpm-- but nothing frightening, in fact a lot of fun. To get the Toyos to break in the wet in the cold you have to be pushing it a bit on public roads. I've had some very fast drives in the wet on winter roads and to go beyond the point that the Toyos start to fail is to go beyond safe limits for public roads. I would add that I'm a biker and very progressive with the throttle--- but you need to be on anything above a 172 , as they are very powerful fwd cars

I ran T1R's on my 172 on the front, and ate through them in about 8000 miles. There a good grippy tyre in the dry, average in the wet, but a very soft compound so wear quickly

On my 182 i run PE2's and wouldnt swap to anything else.

Is there any advantage of getting 195 over 205 other than the cost??? :S
Or is it worth spending the extra to get the 205??? Its just i got 205's on the front and 195's on the back and have been that way since i bought the car

Cheers :)
