Tyre help !

Car  Clio 172 Phase 2
Ok In the past I would normally just change a tyre 1 by 1 as needed. And normally a part worn or budget.
Havent got a clue how the numbers work on the tyre. I let the garage deal with that.
But my Clio spins in 1st 2nd and 3rd in the wet and it's annoying. So in a few weeks gna treat myself to new front tyres.

There be on 172ph2 wheels. What size do u recommend ? And what sort of tyre can I get for under 100pound ?
Is it worth going garages like ATS and Euromaster etc or Order some online and pay some 1 to fit them ?

Cheers for any input. I'm a real tyre newbie

Camskill, if its a 1*2 you brave on budgets and remoulds, can pick up good tyres reasonably cheap - i got rainsports and love them, not too cheap/ not too dear

Normally new tyres would go on the back.

best bet is go on a site like camskill or something and take them to a good friendly garage, slip them some beer money and they should fit it for you no probs

also no such thing as a FF172 btw, sounds stupid IMO

Alright ok il check that site out. And il change my 172FF. Wanted to start a trend. But it went sour. But it has got the same as 182FF lol.

You aren't going to want to put good tyres on the front and leave sh*te on the back, that could bite you on the arse later!

195/45/16 is what size you need.

Slightly over budget but something like these will be fantastic.

If you have budgets all round though I would recommend buying 4 or at least running the 2 new ones on the back and having the cheap ones on the front.

Good price, but can you not put 205's on? slightly wider, better grip.
On Camskill they have Rainsports for £62 each with a W rating.

Are the rain sports still ok for dry ? Or purely for rain ?
Is the (205) number the width and profile like the depth

Barely noticeable on the road imo even when driving flat out. Wouldn't bother personally.

They aren't too bad in the dry, maybe a little soft in summer months but with winter coming up i wouldn't worry about that haha.

If price is a big consideration then 195 45 r16 are best option for a ph 2 on standard wheels, there's lots of choice of suitable tyres in that size and typically around £10 cheaper per tyre than the 205's.

I've had mine on since April at the front, no spinning they are perfectly fine, the dry is over now and I'd be looking at having wet tyres personally for the sake of a tenner i'd also have 205's on you will notice the difference esp in the wet and you want to put your foot down. Verdesteins are fine too but I would go with a 205 ime of course.
