Tyre/size recommendations... mid-range

Hey so I'm looking to get a tyre package with my new wheels...

On my previous car I had T1-R's then upgraded to Pilot Sport 3's. I'm looking to go somewhere in the middle this time as money is tight!

Also need to decide between 205/45 or 195/45 just reading a couple of threads and there doesn't seem much difference.

Any recommendations? :)

Budget? I have the v12's in 205/45/16 and rate them. I am eventually looking to get more track based tyres which will be rsrs

I guess I'm looking around £70-75. The guy I'm getting the wheels from says he can do PS3's in 195 for £310 which isn't bad... but the price shoots up for 205! Wondering if it's worth it or not.

Michelin have have had a price increase in march and pulled quite a bit of dealer support so expect the price to start rising. As a mid range, i'd recommend kumho or hankook.

I have the Uniroyal RainSport 3s on my Turbines (15") and my sister has them on her Mondeo (225/45R17).

If I am honest I have mixed feelings about the RS3s. They are great in the wet to the extent that I doubt you will find a better wet tyre. However, they are so so in the dry. They grip but I am sure they grip more in the wet going by some corners near me. Maybe the 50 profile exagerates but the tyres seem to flex upon turning in;the car felt sharper when the T1-Rs was on and that is saying something.

I haven't had Kumhos for a while, but the KU31s were OK. I wasn't massively impressed with the KH31s given the price difference between them on a good tyre (about £15-20 a corner) and their wear rate.

If it were me I'd get the Michelin PS3s in 195 or the Continental Sport Contact 5s in 205 (they are cheaper than PS3s when I last checked. Uniroyals are OK but I have not been in a car when I am turning the wheels before the corner comes to account for tyre flex.

And yes they are inflated correctly (33 up front with 30 in the rear (T1-Rs) ; I may put more into the fronts to see what happens). The only reason I bought the RS3s was down to cost (£45 fitted in 15") and the fact that it was all the tyre shop had when both fronts on the Turinis and Turbines were deemed to be on the limit/a little below but I am still not convinced.

Unfortunately they've ended up costing almost the same as the PS3's anyway! £360 for a set... a big part of going for them was availability really as I'm running out of time and need them installed on a specific day. At least I'm getting them fitted/balanced for free.

A bit of a thread bump, but how have you found these since they've been fitted? Interested as they come in Clio-friendly sizes and mine need replacing soon, so it's these or Eagle F1s.

Yeah really good actually. Not that I've really been hammering them, but on par with PS3s certainly imo.
