Tyre size

Ive got the standard mk 2 172 Conti sport tyres on my car, I have changed my alloys, but kept the same Contis.

They are ok but dont seem to sit flush on my new alloys...not quite wide enough possibly......................

Has anyone got any ideas on what alternative tyres I can put on that will fit better?? The alloys are 16" Konsi snippers.

So they are exactly the same as the wheels you have taken them off so there should be no difference at all. The 172 alloys are 7x16"

Weird, they look different ...so would wider ones go on and would they handle better????

You could put wider ones on but you would have to go for 40 series tyres so not to affect acceleration. i.e increase tyre diameter.

I wouldnt really reccomend it though. The best match would be a 215/40R16 but that is much wider will tramline really bad and it may rub plus more expensive.

Just put up with what you have IMO
