Tyre Sizes For Wheels

hi all, i have a mk1 clio RSi and am looking for some alloys.

ive been lookin on ebay and was wondering what offsets and tyre sizes i needed for 16" and 17" wheels

would someone be able to tell me

Depends what your originals are. If Im right theyre something like 6x14 arent they? Offset should be 36mm. Basically any 16s or 17s you buy nowadays are gonna be 7" wide - so youve got to accommodate an extra half inch each side if you stick with the same offset. I would have thought they would fit but couldnt say for sure. 205/40/17 is about the biggest tyre you want to put on there really.

people have told me for 15s you need 195/45/15s

what would happen if i put 195/50/15s on my car
