Unbalanced flywheel?

I changed my clutch to a k-tec gr N kit in october '09 hoping this would fix my problem. well, it didn't..
so here it goes:
engine at idle, pressing and holding down the clutch, engaging 1st gear, revin' the engine to 2-3-4k rpm and nothing happens as normal.
but when going past 5k rpm the car is pulling slightly ahead and it smells like burned clutch immediately.
car drives normal and shifts normal, but when flooring it and rushing the gear changes a bit I'm hearing the cracking noise in the box, almost in every gear
I'm thinkin' maybe some syncro's are gone, but then why it's trying to pull ahead as described above?
Could be the flywheel-pressure plate assembly being unbalanced? a flywheel bolt or two loosened up a bit? crankshaft issue? (hoping not!)
clutch won't engage properly? clutch cable is ok though and nothing else appeared faulty when I had the clutch changed.
as I said I had the problem before when the car was on standard clutch from the beginning.
Any advices welcomed as I don't really want to tear apart the gbox and spend money where I shouldn't
Thanks!

b.u.m.p.

I thought I'll get an answer asap as these boxes are known for having issues :(

I was thinking of maybe having some problems with the arm, but then the clutch biting point was supposed to be low down near the floor isn't it? which is not the case. it bites about half way up/down which I guess is normal.
Anyway if i'm going to investigate the problem I'll change the arm no matter what

i had a similar fault on a renault 5 once, i would not of thought the gearbox was at fault.

when your revving to 5k and the clutch starts to engage, try to release the clutch a tiny bit, see if it stops.
i.e you have too much travel on the pedal, and the pressure plate spring forks are making contact with the friction plate.
this can be caused by a dodgy pedal rachet (self adjuster thingy)

or wrong bolts holding flywheel on?

bent release fork, or damaged/incorrect release bearing?
i would highly doubt syncros, as they only come into it when changing gear. "crunching" into gears is dead syncros.

I'm also having the "crunch" but only when nailing it, was thinking it's the same cause as the idle revin' issue, meaning the clutch doesn't engage properly and coupled with higher rpm's you get the crunch even without the syncro's being damaged (well at least I hope tehy aren't)
the release bearing is the right one I'm sure, the clutch came as a kit bought from k-tec. even before the clutch change I had the same preblems with the stock unit.
thx for sharing your experience though!
