Unbearable rattle

  Scorpion 182
Hi there,

This is my first post so please be gentle with me!!!! I've got a 182 that makes a loud stones in a coke can rattle when accelerating from a standstill. It's not the exhaust heat shield or the exhaust itself. It seems to be coming from the front end, possibly the engine bay. I've had a good look and can't find anything loose apart from the part highlighted by the red arrow in the pic. I don't know what this part does or what its called, but it is loose to the touch. Is this normal? When I 'jiggle' it about it seems to make the kind of noise I'm hearing when I accelerate. The noise only comes at low revs from a standstill and is not present during driving. The pic is not of my car and I haven't taken the cover off yet.

Thanks for any feedback, this is driving me mad.....

Yeah that'll make the noise, reasonably common i believe. you need a 10mm socket and an extension and tighten 2 nuts down 2 of the holes (think its the left hand 2), at the front.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll sort it first thing tomorrow morning.
