  172 Exclusive

well the 172 and 182 do not mean the amount of bhp that they produce it means the amount of PS that they produce and i think that the 172 in BHP is abou 168

at the last 306 RR day the operators were surprised that the 306s were making pretty bang on stated manufactures figures for standard cars. they said that every 172 etc theyve had in has been well down on the quoted power figures.

so in that case ps isnt bhp as its a different measure centigrade and farenhite they measure the same thing but do it differently

no you dont

trust an engine dyno with a rr there are far too many differences and each rr is different so you will never get a spot on figure

down to calibration and what % is used to caculate transmition losss.

Also which gear is used cos you really need a near 1:1 ratio or something dont you?

Ill say it again even though everyone else has said it, less lol

Who cares if they do, still go like sh*t off a shovel

Most make less I reckon. Sometimes youll find a good one with bang on power but most of the time I reckon its less

sorry for being slow on the uptake on this.

as i understand it, theres 2 different ways of measuring bhp. one is direct from the engine, the other is through the tyres. renault clearly do it directly through the engine, while peugeot appear to do it in reality terms. the bhp on a mini for example is done as an average.

may have got the wrong end of the stick, but that seems to be how it works.

Spot on. A LOT of bhp claims are at the engine. Thats why when talking tuning the quote will often be written as at the wheels meaning the actual output to the road. Most likely the engine output itself would be higher but lost through transmission etc.

lol Its the same, PS,PK,BHP its ll about the horses.

On-topic, do you think you really going to feel the difference between 168 and 172 BHP? I didnt think so. but its def less. My 120hp Alfa had 113 hp tested.
