Clio MK2
Friends,
I am a friend from Taiwan. I ordered AVO shocks from the UK. The front springs are 550 IBS and the rear springs are 300 IBS. After that, the nightmare began:
1. In February this year, after the installation was completed, there was a huge noise, but there were potholes, bridge cracks, and protrusions! The shock absorbers are badly infected on the body. After dismantling, it was found that it was an AVO product error (gasket and retaining bolt), which caused the head of the pillow ball to be damaged correctly. So I contacted the AVO team and they offered to send a set. Give it to me, I look forward to it.

2. Due to a construction error, the screw on the rear shock broke, so I ordered two more rear shocks.
3. After 20 days, the product will be sent to Taiwan. At the same time, in order to ensure that the weight of the spring water will not be too high, I purchased spring water with 450 IBS in the front and 250 IBS in the rear. However, to my delight, I received a set of used pillow dome tops, full of rust spots, but the gaskets and bolts are indeed new, I still have the product on the car, tested it and it still emits a huge noise Noise, after dismantling the solution this time, a bad situation was found, the front shock absorber leaked oil in the lower right corner. (As of today, every inspection has found oil stains)

3. Later, another gentleman from the AVO team contacted me and he asked me: "Can you send us a picture of the side of your car? The car is on flat ground. This will help us see the riding condition of the car The height at which it is.
Also, can you tell us if you get the knocking noise over small bumps at low speeds below 10 mph?
and dips in the road (potholes and seams in the tarmac .)
from Manhattan or just one?".
Here's my reply:
I don't find this a hassle, and I'm glad you guys are willing to fix it. I can provide some results of my tests.
1. I once made a mark on the damper rod and looped it around. The markers didn't touch the bottom, but there was still sound.
2. Rear shock, the sound comes from the rebound, but I adjusted the rear damping to the softest, the spring has almost no preload, keep it in the slack state, the knock sound is still the same.
3. I'm here to answer your question:
Whether it's a pothole or a strip on the bridge, the front shock absorber is obviously compressed, but I have 75mm of travel to absorb it, but it can't be absorbed effectively, and it still produces induction sound. I'd really like to know if there is something wrong with your suspension?
4. This is my current height

Ultimately, the reason I no longer want to reply to these messages, AVO told me:
The dampers supplied to you should be MTS40SA 80-12, for track and competition. From the standard ride height - 40mm, the distance from the bottom of the strut to the underside of the top clamp should be 45.7cm, we just need to check the front if you can please check and we can see if we have sent you an order the correct damper.
If they measure 50.7cm, they are standard ride height dampers and will run too long at the lower ride height, requiring you to raise the ride height to see if that improves.
drive and noise. My only external concern is the 7" long, 17.8 cm, and 550lb springs that come with the kit.
There are a few reasons I'm ditching this AVO RT8004 Coilover:
1. A set of shocks should be delivered to the customer without issue and can't Wrong kit provided.
2. Modifying the shock absorber, in addition to increasing the performance of the vehicle, it is also a great thing to lower the chassis and improve the handling. According to the current height, the current installation already complies with AVO's standard "from the standard ride height -40mm". Too high is really incongruous.
3. If the shock absorber is disassembled, it is found that it meets the specification of "standard height from the ground - 40mm, and the measurement should be 45.7cm", but the sound still cannot be resolved, and I don't have other shock absorbers to use.
4. If the damper is disassembled and the specifications are found to be wrong, it proves again that there is a big problem with the quality control of the AVO-damper.
I feel very tired during this time. This is my personal experience. I hope everyone will be very cautious when choosing AVO Coilover. I think there is a big problem with their quality control.
