unstable revs!! :S up! down! up! down!

hi, i have no idea whats going on with my car but its seeming to be a real pain in the backside!...

sometimes it wont start! even when trying to jump it from another car, yet give it a little push and its fine :S battery light randomly came on a few times a few weeks back resulting in the car staling whilst moving!

:S and now most recently which is topping them all!! iv noticed that when i reverse out of a parking space for example and then in 1st gear.. the coil light thing comes on on the dash! asin there is an electrical fault for some bizzare reason.... anyway, what happens is the revs go berzerk!! they wont settle and keep going from around 1000 to 2500 very quickly so it seems like im an impatient bugar revving it up when im not!

anyway as i pull off and the gears are engaged it is fine yet when the clutch is pressed in the revvs just drop and the car cuts out! resulting in whenever i stop at a junction etc the car will stall and ill have to restart and have to have the accelerater pressed slighly at what is roughly 2000 but the revs are still bouncing up and down all over the place.. pressing the accelerator though for a second keeps the car alive but as soon as i let off a little bit it dies!!!

so what the bloomin hell is wrong with my car!! its really anoying! it doesnt create the problem everytime i reverse as i reverse off my drive everyday without it happening but when im out and parking it will suddenly create a mind of its own! any suggestions???

Sounds like you've got a common Clio problem, mine has that too but it isn't as far gone as yours sounds.

Whenever I start mine up from cold it will almost certainly cut straight out unless I keep my foot on the accelerator but once I get going it's fine.

I took mine into my local garage last week and they have ordered the part for it apparently its gonna cost me £300 to get the job done but he said it will cure it.

mine has the same problem, i had the TDC sensor changed (roughly £80 inc labour) and that fixed it for a couple of months but it has started to return

whats TDC?? :S.. what is the main problem though do you think?? is it the ECU? or something thats physically going wrong with the engine?

has anybody else has anything like this before???
