Upgraded Alarms

  Insignia SRi
I have 2 attempted break-ins to get hold of our car keys at home in the last couple of weeks so I want to get an upgraded alarm.

Any particular alarms that are worth looking at?

Sorry to hear about that mate, if you dont mind me asking how have they broken in? we had a spell of crime around our way and fitted 4 big security lights, a large side gate with slide locks/pad locks, trellace (sp?) along the side and back behind the trees and kept all the keys out of sight. perhaps worth doing along with an alarm

Yeah they nicked my Dad's Mini Cooper S 2 weeks ago by poping the front door and chiseling out the porch door lock then nicking his keys, they tried the same thing Wed night for mine but didnt make it through the new inner porch door.

Iv put a new high wattage (very bright) security light up yesterday!!

A decent alarm will do little, people really don't give a s**t about someone's house alarm going off other than how annoying it is. Best to get a few window/door sensors and a cheap wireless alarm and spend some cash on smartw*ter. If you put smartwater stickers in your windows and on your door people will think twice about breaking in.

Ah right sorry , then I would suggest something like a TOAD Ai606, < £100 for the basic version (which is still one of the best alarms going) or ~£250 for one that will text you with information about an alarm being triggered.

Keep your car keys in your bedroom.

I think youv gota be carful with that, its all well saying your batter them if they come into your room but what if you cant.. your whole families up there (unless you live alone).

As for car alarms.. most audio shops sell them and are registered to fit them, your best bets to have a nose round really. by going to an approved shop your insurance company can recognise it and may reduce your insurance too.

Yeah i have emailed GAP security this morning to see what they would recommend!! The Toad alarm was one of the ones I was looking at, it doesnt have to be anything fancy with proximity sensors or engine start etc!!!

so they break into your house, steal your car keys and bypass your billion pound car alarm with the key fob..... ?

If u want to protect your car, get an alarm with a keypad where you have to enter a pin before engine starts. But then hey may well be pummeling your face to tell em so is it really worth it ?
