I think you need a adaptor for aftermarket head units , someone will correct me if im wrong..

just about all require adaptors nowadays my friend as they dont make the head unit specific to cars, so they make the adaptors specific to headunit-car

as above, i just went to my local audio shop when i got my new alpine head unit and they sorted out all the steering wheel controls etc

I have a kenwood Kdc-4561ub which works with steering wheel controls. But the adapter is not included in the box as it is specific for different cars. The lead usually costs quite a bit if you get them brand new.
