Upgrading central locking

I was thinking about trying to upgrade the rcl on my clio, its currently using the IR type and i literally have to be pressed against the windows to use it, ive tried replacing the baterrys still the same ect, so was wondering if anyone has tried too or managed to upgrade to the RF type?

i know with the MK1 clios
water used to leak on the central locking board from the aerial.
all you had to do was take the board off and clean it and it gave you a stronger signal.

the board is up on the roof behind the light on the roof.
