Upper Inlet manifold, A few questions

Im not sure if it is called that still but i would guess its an upper inlet manifold?

Anyway the front left hole for one of the engine cover bolts has the thread stripped out, that and i want to paint the inlet black but at the same time want to really keep the one it has on at the moment unpainted for resale if ever.

So if i get another inlet off ebay so i can paint it etc, will it just bolt straight on? are the uppers also stamped RS so i just need to make sure i get one thats stamped to match the lower inlet?

Still very much a noob when it comes to the 182 engine.

Thanks.

Ok cheers so there's no way of telling it is from a 182 if i get one? just have to go for a 182 listed inlet and hope it actually is.

I was also thinking, not sure that it would make any difference, but has anyone used PTFE washers (i haven't found any that are the right size, but a quick search showed they exist) between the engine cover and the inlet to reduce noise, probably wouldn't make any difference what so ever, but also thought of doing it on the fuel rail guard, Don't really want to lose the engine cover.

One more thing i might as well add to here, if i take my throttle body off to clean the inside, do you leave the valve still? or can you move it open with your finger to clean it properly?

Job done. Just had some time to check things over with the car so going through the motions along with polishing the rail guard.

Is it worth cleaning the TDC ? read what to do, also where it is located? under the gear box?

I'd also like to check i've got the right sparkies in there, if i take one out, what would it need to be torqued back up to?

Thanks.

Reviving this... Everyone selling the upper inlets on ebay thinks the 172 and 182 manifold are the same, so on the 182 upper inlet Martin182 said there is an extra stubb for the carbon canister hose, is that the stub coming from the back of the throttle body?

Can someone point out how I can tell exactly what should be on the 182 upper inlet?

Thanks.

What the hole thats near enough dead center in the pic?

Need to know the points to look out for because I want to nab one soon, unless i can buy one cheap enough from someones 182 to be sure.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
1mm hole in the breather plate is inside that area, giving PCV (positive crankcase ventilation)
Aside from that it's just a leftover from earlier versions

  182, SQ7, Trafic
What about the breather that would normally circulate back on to underneath the throttle body?

Doesn't the one that goes inside the plenum go to the carbon canister?

  182, SQ7, Trafic
What is it then? It looks like the 182 doesn't have a carbon canister or at least a take off for it from that breather plate.

vacuum take off. (typed this eleventy million times) 182 has it, just pushfit on the back of the plenum
