URGENT :: 5mm Spacers ::

  Suzuki Ignis Sport
You can get away with using standard bolts.

Talking about bolts, did u manage to take ur ones off?

yeh finally.. they fooked now though.

sure i dont need longer bolts with the spacers?
i dunno whether to get 3mm or 5mm.

clio failed mot yesterday bcos of the brakes..
so i have had new brakes and discs put on, now my new wheels wont turn!

what u reckon? could get away with 3mm? or get 5mm

Somethings not right at all there !

speak to russ@gasperformance regarding spacers, longer bolts etc ^ and i agree with craig on this.. how weird. are your new brakes the same setup as it was before? size etc...

Are you sure that everything's on right? I would have though the brakes would have to be pretty drastically different to make the wheels start rubbing? Did the garage that fitted the brakes not recommend anything?

brakes are wrong id say discs too thick and touching calliper carier 100 percent will b brake prob

my new wheels are fine, correct offset etc..
they were on the car before, with no probs.

put my standard wheels back on for mot purposes (didn't want to risk them being funny with wide wheels).. but when i went to put the new ones back on today, they just wouldnt turn whilst jacked up on the hub. they were rubbing on the caliper.

my brakes failed mot, so im guessing that the new brake discs/pads etc are taking up a couple of extra mm because they are brand new.

i have bought a set of 3mm spacers, hope they do the trick.

Even with the discs & pads being new the clearance doesn't sound right, there should be a lot more than 0 mm clearance.

  Mk1 Clio
Thats wrong disks or pads by the sound of it, my friend fitted the wrong pads on his mk1 b4 and the same thing happened, and plus why would spacing out the wheel make a difference to brake clearance as the brakes are well behind the wheel itself? just double check uve got the right bits first, hope u get it sorted!

3mm were not enough.. i deffo need 5mm spacers

what size longer bolts would i need?

oo and i need these asap!! before wednesday!! HELP!

Whoever did your brakes hasn't done them right ! Forget the spacers etc, take it back to whoever did it & get them to sort it. You shouldn't have to resort to spacers to sort out the problem.

i've had this in the past, are they aftermarket wheels?

had someone come in for pads had just had wheels fitted by elites (monkeys)

obviously they had fitted the wheels and checked clearences with the pads worn down which means the caliper sits further in, after fitting thicker new pads the caliper sits further out.

if its on standard wheels then you have a major problem

the standard alloys fit fine.. its the aftermarket ones that wont go on!

HELP! WHAT SHALL I DO?
yep seen it before its not too much a problem, you are already on the right lines.

if you want to calculate what spacers you need theres 2 ways of going about it both a bit long winded

you can either fit the old brake pads back in on one side, measure what clearence you have between the caliper and the wheel. say it was 1 mm.

now measure the thickness of the friction material of the old pad verses the new pad, say it was 3mm verses say 8mm thats a 5mm difference meaning your 5 mm spacers would give you the clearence needed

easier way and the way id do it is take the 3mm spacers you already have and stack two of them on one wheel (with the old bolts just for now just dont let the car off the jack) and check clearence.
from that you should be able to see if 5mms would do the trick
