URGENT Clutch Problem

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
My clutch cable in the willy went the other day, the little adjuster thing snapped off, not the cable itself. Anyway, had a new cable put on, but now it wont go into reverse, I have to turn the engine off and stick it in reverse, then start the car.

Its like the cable isnt pulling through enough so isnt diengaging the clutch properly, getting it into gear when driving can be an ordeal too.

How should it all be linked to the pedal?

Any tips? i understand this is a common prob on willys.

Is it a genuine Renualt cable, if no then that's the problem. I've fitted non Renault cables before (bought from Halfords) and when the engine heats up they don't work properly.

I run non gen cables and they're fine.

How is the cable routed?

It needs to:
Out the bulk head, down, along towards the passenger side, push it back through the gap between the subframe and the bulkhead, then back out along the chassis rail, underneath the top gearbox mount, then into the box.

Cable routing on the valvers/willys is a major thing lol

I had a non genuine on my valver and it was awful, an inch or so shorter and made my pedal SO heavy it was unreal at times. It lasted 8 months. Fitted a genuine Renault one and was lovely and soft(ish) again :)
