URGENT HELP REQUIRED...

Hey guys,

I've just jacked up my car and painted the calipers and drums, however, upon lowering the car off jacks my hand brake is stuck on, i can freely select gears without the clutch and my engine won't start, the starter motor just turns over and then stops

Wtf has happened to my car?

Tell me about it! Its funny but then it sinks in that my car is competely f****d!!

There was a wierd noise when i jacked up the back but i just thought it was the suspension settling

Anyone got any ideas? I'm on camp, do you reckon the AA will come and have a look, cos technically im not at home, I'm outside work haha

u might have knocked the fuel cut off switch.not sure where it is on a clio.normally under the bonnet

I'm guessing that when you jacked the back up you disturbed the handbrake cable and when you jacked the front up you disturbed the gear linkeage.

Fcuk knows why it won't start though.

you will need to contact a garage at some point and explain what happened but be prepared to have the p*ss taken.

Where you flattening the battery when you were painting? Sounds like the immobiliser is kicking in, is the red immobilser light staying solid when trying to start?

With regards to starting sounds like it could be the tdc sensor maybe just bad timing that its started to play up when you been spraying your cailper. As for everything else sounds very fare fetched to me sure you havnt had a play with anything else

put it in 1st with the engine off take handbrake off and rock the car back and forth a few times then knock it back in neutral and try and start it

Well it seems to be okay now, the handbrake was grollyed on tight, just a case of man the f**k up lol

It's starting fine now, maybe because the back was jacked up for a while the fuel had run down the fuel lines or something?

It still goes into gear without the clutch, but only when the engine is switched off

My mate literally showed up at the garage and it sprang back into life, cheers Scott

all cars will freely go into gears with the engine switched off!
what does it do with the engine on?! lol

does the leaver go down and the car remains solid??
if so then the rear brakes have either binded or colapsed!!

I look like such a noob now lmao, I could of sworn that my car has never gone into gear freely with the engine switched off! Obviously I'm wrong

The handbrakes working normally, the engine is starting normally too and its going into gear normally with the engine running

Could be a battery on the way out?!

I had it a few weeks back where it took 3/4 attempts to start it, worked fine for a few days then would not start and battery was dead!

May have to look into that, it did take a fair few attempts to get the engine running
