Urgent : Immobiliser - Work started 15 mins ago!

  Breaking A 172 Replica
Hey guys,

Just gone out to my car and it won't start. Needed to open the office 15 minutes ago and its a 10 mile drive!

It is deffo an immobiliser issue. It started and then just died on me. Now it won't start at all. The immobiliser just stays illuminated. In the past after enough messing about with the interior locking button and the key locking I have managed to get the light off but it is not so this time!

Please Help

Thanks

Sam

try putting key in ignition, press and hold the lock button as you turn it to start it

Lock it then unlock, diconnect the battery then reconnect it... Fek knows, get your girlfriend to give you a lift or rob her car!

Yeah learnt from that before!

I don't have the standard HU in the minute luckily.

Any other ideas?

i had a similar problem and thought it was the immobiliser. Turn out to be dirt on the sensor which is under or above the fly wheel. so it turns but won't start. the sensor if dirty doesn't pick up that the fly wheel is turning.

It might not be that but it might be worth a try.

Get a lift, or call out the AA, those immobilisers are more hassle than they are worth, how does the immobilser de-activate -through the key I assume? Loose connection round the ignition barrel? Fek knows im no mechanic.

My parents are out. GF is at work. Mates are revising for exam tomorrow so don't want to ask!

Dad's friends left his RR here. Might have to go in that lol!

Not insured on the RR no. It would also be theft!

No, it is most likely no one will even know as I am in the office on my own on Sundays.

Taxi to work if I were you, no point getting a bollocking as well as having a bust car.

No idea what the fault is though, sorry.

if the red lights not going out then its animoiliser only issue try your other key if that doesn't fix it then the ley pickup sensor (the one round the ignition barerl) check the wiring on it and then get a new sensor thats the problem 995 of the time the sensors fails to pickup the signal.

Ok.

The light is deffo not going out so it is that I assume.

How much are new sensors?

Are the individual to each car or can I get one from another car?

Cheers

Ok thanks.

Where abouts are they located and is there anyway I can know for sure it is the sensor?

Thanks

Sensors round the ignition barrel remove the top and bottom covers round the stearing column and you'l see the senso its got from meort a 3 wires running to it as part of a plug the the unit just pulls of the end of the stalk.

Ok good stuff.

Got someone coming round later with a DCi80 (Tom_RT) - will his be the same? As in can I just try his and if it works, bingo theres the problem?

Thanks

Ive had this twice. Get someone to come round with a diagnostic programme, plug it in, press some buttons and its all fixed.

Try holding the key upto the interior light and lock/unlock a few times, apparently that works!
