As above you cant rely on any of them.
What you need to do is dependant on the situation and the charachteristics of the car.
If its a F/F then a lift off the throttle should tuck the nose back in and stop it from understeering on. TC , LSD etc though can change all this though.
Trick is not to jump on the brakes - Itll destabilise the car. Be progressive until you get bite, then increase the pressure (this is still happening fairly quickly though).
Best thing to do is get on a driver training day and learn how the car reacts. Andy Walsh at

Firstly, how are you going to reach down and switch the TC on/off mid corner if its all going wrong? Jumping on the stop peddle mid corner will be a bad idea and will just send you wide into the on coming lane. Turn it off as soon as you start it up and drive within you limits/the limits of the road/weather conditions. I know we all get a bit over confident sometimes, but like cocopops said, sometimes it will come back and bite you in the arse
if a wheel spins the tc applies the brake to the spinning wheel to stop it spinning and so power is also transferred via the diff to the wheel which has grip. the tc system uses the conventional abs block but uses some additional solenoids/valves to direct fluid from the pump and to the wheel it wants to apply the brake to. when a wheel spins the pump is operated to create fluid pressure and the solenoids/valves direct the brake fluid (under pressure) to the wheel (slipping/spinning wheel) that the brake needs applying to.
the esp only works one wheel at a time and adjusts engine torque. below is two examples of understeer and oversteer both going around a right hand bend.
understeer-if it understeers when turning right it reduces engine torque and applies the rear right hand brake to try to pull the car into the corner.once the understeer has stopped the brake is released and full torque is avaliable again.
oversteer-if it oversteers when turning right it applies the left front brake and increases engine torque. it attempts to pull the vehicle straight by the right front wheel pulling the vehicle around the left front wheel which is braking so creating a pivot idea.
the system:-
it uses the conventional abs block/solenoid valves. there is a multiplex link between the injection computer and abs computer so engine torque can be adjusted. it has a steering angle sensor so it can see how much lock you have applied. it has a yaw sensor which detects acceleration and the yaw angle (the angle of the vehicle around its centre) it has a mapping which will have what yaw angle should be in relation to steering angle and acceleration etc. the readings of all the sensors allows the ecu to detect oversteer or understeer.
best test is to find a completly equally round roundabout which isnt to big. get a reasonable amount of speed up and then floor it. if the roundabouts completly round you will be able to keep going around under full throttle and you will really feel the esp cutting in. the one we used for my rte course was an ex test vehicle with the system. it was set to just catch the vehicle when it was almost on the limit and it was quite impressive. you had to have the balls to keep your foot planted though because it really didnt catch it to the last second and the first time was slightly worrying. good fun though

yup, esp or abs wouldnt have helped on the to a meet when i nearly took out about 3 cars on a wet corner, ive not shat myself so much in my life!
