I might get some tomorrow when I goto Demon Tweeks.
Doubt Ill get it done for FCS now tho.. Sun dont last long enough before it rains again! If I did it, Id want a car cover to cover it up afterwards so its all tasty for the show! Might just have to make do with a basic soap wash!
I think Ill follow Clares guide.. Applying the wax as often as I can be bothered. Dont fancy using Stage 1 loads.. Ill have no paint left, heh.
Got any pics of using this stuff? Is it noticable better than say, Autoglym Super Resin Polish?
I use Turtle Wax Extreme at the moment - good stuff, but I have loads of scratches on my car, which this doesnt get out - the shine it gets tho is great! Bodywork mega smooth after using it, too... I just think I need something else to get the proper deep colour out.
I did my car with stage 1 the other day and some parts with stage 2. I then left the car for a while as Ive got finals at the minute, but found enough time to coat the rest of the car with stage 2 and some with stage 3.
Initially, I was dead impressed - my car is pearlescent black. The only thing is that it seems to wear off very quickly. I guess that might be due to the fact I cover my car for weeks at a time and theres some rubbing, but it doesnt do that if I use a synthetic (rather than carnuba) wax. I think Ill have to do stage2 again, then use some other synthetic stuff (like autoglym EGP) and then do stage 3 on top. Finals are all over tomorrow!!! But it looks like rain
Hmm, Stage 3 locks it all in.. if you start from scratch, do stage 1, then stage 2 then stage 3, it should be locked in for a while, then just stage 3 will be topped up.
Stage 1 is a paint cleanser and shouldnt be used too often! Its like a deep cleanse that gets rid of the crap on the paint you cant see, I believe this contains some abrasives (mild). You dont need to use this too often. 3 coats is also a bit excessive for this level.
Stage 2 is a polish (much like Autoglym Super Resin), basically fills in any minor marks you have on the car, such as swirls etc.
Stage 3 is a carnuaba wax which tops it all off (you can layer this one a fair few times, say each time you wash the car, and it should look great)
Just Stages 2+3 every few months should be ok.
Get some applicator pads to apply the products with, and some microfibre cloths to for buffing off.
Ive never used this 3 stage product, thats just what I know about it!
Yeah, Im going to do stage 2 and 3 again. But carnuba waxes like stage 3 wear off, so I want to lock in stage 2 with a synthetic wax (autoglym) and then top it up with stage 3. I used to use autoglym, but meiguars is so much better (before it wears off! - must be the car cover).
I found that stage one is much more abrasive (and effective) than t-cut. The only other stuff Id say was comparable is cutting paste. But cutting paste is much more "gritty", so I suspect that stage one has some sort of mild paintstripper stuff in it. I wont be using it very often!
If you use AutoGlym SRP on top of Stage 2, it will eliminate the Stage 2, because the AutoGlym contains cleaning properties. In effect you will be starting from scratch.
Ive seen cars that have had good results from just using Autoglym SRP (and in some cases the Extra Gloss Protection on top too), with a carnuaba wax topping of Blitz wax (available from http://www.frost.co.ukwww.frost.co.uk) and/or P21S AKA S100 paste wax.
P21S (American product) is available from Serious Performance in the UK (http://www.seriousperformance.co.ukwww.seriousperformance.co.uk) Site should be up soon apparently. S100 is the equivalent of this, but is predominantly marketed at motorbikes - available from Harley Davidson dealers.
I meant that I would use Autoglym EGP (as posted a few posts ago) after stage 2 and before stage 3. Do you visit http://www.autopia.orgwww.autopia.org too?? I hear that using a synthetic before the carnuba works best.
I used to use SRP, but after I use it on some cars Im selling, I wont use it unless I cant get Meiguars or find some S100.
if u believe what meguairs say, then none of its products have any abrasives in it as it is all natural products, and they claim the cleaner and polish will not damage clear coat or paint.
im ordering some zymol next week bang goes 200 quid then
Meguiars are just trying to sell their products by saying that there are no abrasives in them! lol, oh well.
I could never bring myself to spend that much cash on Zymol! seems too excessive, and I dont think it can be that much better than other stuff out there.
Meguiars is brill, all im gonna say is I have never ever seen my car as clean and shiny before, and the rain just runs of the car hardly needs washed a wekk later.
stage 1 will not strip the paint it isnt T-cut...if the paint is good you dont need to do it all the time either.
I do think meguires if done right is every bit as good as zymol or swissol...but maybe its like buying into a fantasy that paying more money is best...it is difficult to judge because my car with meguiares beads water and still looks clean without washing after two weeks, all we have had is heavy rain. The shine looks soooo deep.
Having meguires i cannot justify spending more on zymol.
But each to there own...would rather have a good night out.
