V6 airbox cold air feed

  Williams 2
To everyone with a V6 airbox...

What did you do for a cold air feed? Did you even bother with one, buy something or make one up?

Mines currently just got the opening angled down towards the back of the headlight but with no cold air feed, just wondering whether to bother making something up and looking for some ideas how to route it etc

Thanks :)

It definately sounds better. Not sure power-wise but should give you a tiny bit extra, one of the 'sticky' threads has a Fast Car magazine test to compare different filters and induction kits.

If you mean by the shape of the filter then yes it is a cone filter, but its not a K&N type.

You won't be able to get a decent ducting as the inlet diametre is about 100mm (space is a bit restricted in the Clio bay). I'd just point the inlet to the headlight. Another option is fitting the airbox straight off the throttlebody (cup racer style) and run a ducting to the front. But you'll need to relocate the battery to the cabin/boot for this setup.

i fitted a smaller battery to my 197 to free up some space and fit a CAF

I did this setup on my white track Clio 172
Same airbox, but directed the 100mm diameter air feed from the drivers end of the grill

I don't use a CAF with my V6, never have.

If you look at the front grill of a MK2 RS grill, there's actually a slot/vent/tunnel that directs air straight into the engine bay.

Where the bolt is at the bottom right of this pic is where you'll find the vent in the grill.

So fresh cool air is blowing in no more then 3 inches away from the airbox hole.

Didn't know this, thanks i'll have a look.

If its a decent source of cool air I probably won't bother with a cold air feed at all!

Oh, so I couldn't just stick a normal K&N airfilter inside the V6 airbox?
