v6 mk 1

  escort cosworth
does anyone know whether the mk 1 clio v6 is any good. I was thinking of selling my golf mk4 gti in about april and buying one, i dont need to drive it everyday as i have a van so it`s just for the weekends. other than that i will buy a focus RS. cheers mike

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
for week end car defo, rs focus for all day evry day. id drive the vee, ill bet u buy it!

For an everydaytime car I would drive something more economical than either of the above mentioned. Something rare and a little less Essex boy for the weekend would be my choice.

Depends what you want the Cup/172's/182's etc are quicker track cars with more space, more usable, less attention seeking higher so less potential damage also better handling on the limit and cheaper on tyres and fuel. However for all its weeknessess its still a great car you have to put up with some of the weekness but I think everyone recognises them as a great car.

well i will buy one of them i bought the golf as an economical car because the escort cosworth that i had before it was in a word not. with all the mods on it when i put my foot down it would return 12 miles per gallon. what i will do is buy the clio and if i dont like it ile sell it and buy the focus, neither of them are for track days.

Used the V6 every day for three yearsno problem.

Gives 30 M.P.G. over this period.

All my journies are over 100 miles, and on motor ways.

Go for it.

With someone who can't drive behind the wheel maybe? I'd of thought a twisty back road is the place something like a 182 will be quicker than a V6?

99.9% of drivers will be able to get a Cup etc round a track faster or back road than a V6.

I don't think so. I really wouldn't fancy my chances against a 182 down a twisting back road – I wouldn't even bother trying. On a track I just can't see it. It seems that the knowledge of the V6 being very, very difficult to control beyond the limit is overshadowing the ability of the car within the limits.

im not buying the car to give it the full mansell round the lanes if i wanted to that i would buy a lotus elise.

all i wanted to know was if anyone had had any problems with them and if they are a good car.

I've got a MK2. I've had some nice cars in the past and I really love this one – right now I wouldn't get rid of it for any other car. So far I've had no problems with it.

There is a chap called Dave (username 137699). He has a MK1 V6 and has had a couple of Escort Cosworths. He's your man

If you want to know a bit more look here:

There is also some information here (but not much – some good video files though):

And if you speak French this site is excellent:

Good luck.
