v6 speakers

  golf r32 dsg
im going to change my speakers in the vee but keep my orginal headunit, has any1 changed there speakers if so for what make and price.
also id like them to fit in the orginal fitment.
cheers craig

Currently in the middle of getting my setup for the V6, not sure what front components to go for, so any recomendations would be apreciated ;)

Also with regards to the V6 am i right in thinking that if i get a decent set of comps for the front then i could do away with the rears, as adding rears could ruin the quality of the overall setup, bearing in mind they are close to the fonts. Ill be powering the front comps of a amp conected to a becker cascade headunit when i can eventually get hold of one.

Sorry craig for hijacking this thread, i was going to make a similar thread but i guessed it would make more sense to keep the info all in one place to benefit us both.

I changed the front woofers to Pioneer units, and ditched the rears completely, replacing them both with a dual coil sub and running the feeds directly to this.

Made a bit of an improvement, but ultimately didn't sound great until I ditched the standard stereo and replaced with a Sony HU & changer.

Now I've got a Sony flip-front Casette HU, Sony 6 CD Changer, and connectors to run the dash display & steering wheel controls - all 2nd hand off ebay, and change from £100!

Silly not to at those prices really....

I've still got the original Renault HU & CD Changer to put back in the car when I eventually come to sell it!

I've just upgraded the speakers in my 182. I put in Focal 165 V2 splits. I also bought an Audison SRX-3 amp, Vibe Audio CBR10 sub, and a Pioneer 9650 head unit, (its the 9600 in the UK). After lots of research I've been told this will be an excellent SQ setup. My speakers are already installed, but only to the stock Renault head unit. Theres a huge improvement already. The standard Renault speakers are very sad indeed. The rest of the gear is hopefully getting installed later this week. You really need a decent amp to run your splits. The Audison is an excellent choice, guaranteed. The problem with retaining the stock head unit is you will never get the full capabilites of your speakers with that head unit. The 9600 gives you a Burr-Brown DAC, and 3x6.5V pre-outs for your amp. I also looked at Eclipse and Clarion. I'm sure theres others out there, but for me, the reputable DAC, and the pre-outs sold me on the Pioneer which I got at a good price. As for where to install the amp in a V6, I'm not sure. Mines going in the boot with my sub. I think you may need to look at the other end of the car in a V6? Links below to the gear I bought.

I'm also getting the doors sealed and sound deadened with Dynamat. This helps to make a huge difference to depth of frequency of your door speakers, and stop them and the doors internals rattling when you crank it. Its not hype. It actually works. I've heard, and felt it in action from a door that was Dynamat-ed, and one that wasn't on a Landcruiser at the installers.

If I were going to put an amp in my vee (did consider it but upgraded to a 50w per channel HU instead) I would either mount it in the passenger footwell, or on the shelf behind the seats.
