  CLIO 172X2 E46 M3
hi guys just thought id ask your advice as once ive sold my two clio 172's im gona get myself a v6(for weekends). I cant make up my mind whether to go for a cheap phase I (possibly cat c but well repaired) or a fettled with phase II(the budget depends on what kind of value for money im getting), however ive been looking on pistonheads ebay and autotrader and there.s hardly any available, i know these are rare cars but was wondering if there was anyother places i should be looking?? Any help would be appreciated cheers

Have mine for 14.5k if you want one. none of this cat listed mk1 rifraf ;)
Won't find a better one tbf. If you're gonna get a bathtub with a laguna engine, might as well get the best;)

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
Having driven both, I would say deffo go for a mk2 if u can afford it!

Bayliss is trying to sell his on V6clio.net-
Was up for 17k at the start of last year & is still up for sale, now just for 13k With a Cambelt change as well-

He is probably very keen to move it on now- Id go in with 12k Cash

i can afford either phase v6 but im not planning on keeping it long, just always fancied one, i know the later phase II's are much better and hold theIr money more and they are prettier however unless its been highly modified i dont think i could part with more than 11k for a v6, hence why im thinking of a cat c.

Get a mk2 cat c for that, blue one on ph!! both hold their money just the same!

thats already sold lol. that would be my top budget really id rather get a cheaper one tbo, my favorite would be a black phase II with some decent mods, then i might pay a bit more lol. ideally id be over the moon if i could find a cat c phase I for 6k and trade in one of my 172's to keep the cash outlay down. fingers crossed but im not holding my breath

pistonheads, ebay, autotrader, v6clio.net...there pretty much the only places you see them.

which ever you plump for just bear in mind the cat-c ones will be that bit harder to shift, bearing in mind you only want it for 6 months, i would at least re-consider your plan, could take you the best part of 6 months to sell it.

also you dont see many at all for sale for 6-7k, and those that are are usually in a bad way. you would be better off spending more, what might save you £500, might cost you 3K to put right. virtually nothing on the cars is easy, avaliable or cheap! lol

yeah i did phone up about that one but its the high mileage and the fact that its a trader that put me off. i think ive got 6k as an ideal price for a phase I (hence the cat c/d) that will obviously go up depending on the mileage and modifications. the same goes for a phase II, i know cat c/d start at around 8500 so im keen to hunt down a a bargain, as long as the base is good im happy to do some work and modifications myself as i have access to workshops and bodyshops. i could also throw all that out the window if say a fully kitted out supercharged sequential geared v6 came up for grabs. but that would mean putting some of my other projects on hold, lol doubt theres many of those about tho, cheers for all your help so far guys keep me posted and when i get one il post some pics up,,

I realise that your looking at cat c cars for the money, imo for your budget you'll be looking at "the runt of the litter cars" as mentioned a recorded car will be hard to sell on. A straight lower mileage, low owner car will sell, plus if the cars in a rare desireable colour even better. - but it'll cost more to buy.

I looked at straight mk1 vee's for 10 -11k a couple of years ago, those cars have probably dropped a few grand, but tbh they were rubbish, they were straight cars, just awful ones.

Buying a vee is a minefield tbh.

Yep ... for that money you'll definitely be talking an abused one! If anything Vee prices are on the up again now that people have stopped panicking quite so much about tax and fuel and the recession.

He'd have to be desperate, not just keen, to let it go for 12k! ;)

im keen to get a v6 but as im sure you are all aware, there are alot of cars going for very little due to the current economical situation, im trying to sell my clio sports at the moment one of which is Very sensibly priced at 2795 which given its condition and service history is a steal for somebody, yet its just not selling, hence when they do both sell i intend on getting a bargain, i just sold my immaculate e46 m3 (50000mls) with loads nof etc for 10750 due to it being a cat d so i know there are bargains to be had elsewhere in the car world, surely this price drop cant have skipped the v6???????
