valver auxillary belt

Does anyone know how much the part costs and average prices for having it fitted....?...mines sqeeling like John Holmes bird.

any help appreciated,

Gibbo

had mine done twice in the last year but the bugger is starting to squeal again!! anyone any ideas whats causing this? the tensioner pulleys been changed too and the belt is as tight as itll go. Im baffled ?? sorry to hijack the post...

as for the belt, paid around a £12, deko one (sp?, they do the belts for ferrari I believe, probably why its cak) and about the same for a bosch one.

fitting it, depends how long it takes, not in the easiest of places, about an hour I suppose £40ish

Smithy, water might be getting in somewhere ie inner arch might not be held in properlty

I was told £20 all in to have it changed, had it done for free in the end when I had a new engine!

has only just started twittering in the last few days but is only going to get worse. as you say it is a lot worse when damp. will check the inner arch but theyre brand spankers so shouldnt be from there. had a thought that the rocker cover gasket may be leaking a touch on that side and over time oil builds up on the belt. not sure how likely but will check. so annoying....

£20 is a bargain, cos its a really annoying job, other thing is the rack which holds the pulley may have lost some teeth, not sure what the solution is but dont think theres a lot you can do about that, just try tighten it again.
