Valver engine has gone,.... Recommendations please...

Is it possible to put a 172 engine in a valver?? Ive been told the best engine's are the williams or megane ones, but are proving hard to find.

What do you think i should do? Ive got a 1k max to spend...

Willy engine is the best option mate, 172 is more expensive and a hell of a lot of work.

Problem is trying to find a decent williams engine..... cant find one for sale on the web at the mo

I just got a quotation of £1500 all in to get a 172 engine installed in the valver. Which is more than i paid for it lol.

no not really as ive spent £500 on brakes/balancing/pads disks/alloys. The car is at a standard that i want it..... and its in really good nick.

Yea, ok. But sometimes I think people go about things completely the wrong way, I'm not saying you are necessarily, but at the end of the day you're putting a Williams engine into a car which looks like a Williams.

If it were me I would buy a Williams and upgrade the brakes etc. on that. Cut the bullshit sorta thing, y'know?

It's like people who are hell bent on modding there 172/182, spending 4-5K for the sake of 30-40 additional BHP, when really they should be selling the car and buying something that's faster standard. That way you're not pissing 5k down the toilet.

Ok the situation is i brought this valver for 1.1k, spent £500 on additional bits within the last 2 months. After speaking with the GF Im even thinking of breaking it now and buying a 172.

How much will i get if i break the valver £500 max?? So ive lost about 1k in a few months, i suppose these things happen dont they....

You could do as Pecan has suggested, buy a willy for around £1,500. Swap over all your new bit as they should fit. Then, sell teh valver as a rolling chassis for about £500.

After alls sid and done, you would have spent £1,500 on an uprated Willy! (because of teh bits you got for teh valver)

Why not just buy another 1.8 engine and stick it in you can pick them up cheap.

No insurance issues then.

what sort of willy you gonna get for £1500? an abused rust bucket that needs attention i would have thought.

If you spend the time looking and know what your looking for you can get a good, not great mind, for one and a half k.
