valver gear box

a new one from renault id circa £400 +vat iirc second hand ones vary depending who you know and what condition they are in!

Fitting will be quite a bit I think.

I thought they were about £400/£450+VAT from Renault (supply only), exchange item - so you give them your old one.
 
Thats supply only and its an exchange as Daz said. Fitment depends who you go to your looking at about £250 to £400 with a new clutch (might as well change it IMO)

well im not 100% sure its my gear box but from people tellin me i fink it iz, wen im flat out in second or 3rd sumtiems jus stops pulling 4 a second? n wen i turn left small noise cummin from my left wheel, thers knockin aswell but i fink thats jus engine mount or exhaust.

I was quoted £550 and £600 by two Renault specialists for the Clutch alone!

lol Renault and nissan do lick balls at labour costs summot like £60+vat an hour!, i definatly cant afford a new 1 guna hav to try get a recondition 1 from the renault breakers or sumthin

Yep they charge a funtune labour rate and its listed as a 6hr hjob chnagiung the whole gearbox doesn't take any more time though than just a clutch.
Shop around and you'll find some places will do it for £300.

Check for sure that firstly the noise isn't just a wheel bearing. It should be noise when turning one direction, and the quieten off when turning the other.

As for the loss of power in 3&4, dunno. If it was transmission, I would expect a (fairly loud) noise to co-inside loss of performance. Are you sure you just don't notice it in 1&2, and never reach that rev in 5?....

its not wheel bearing noise had those both done, my m8 seems to fink the gear box is ok n that the flatspots are my clutch slipping?
