Valver Oil!

What grade oil should i use?my car has covered 95,000 miles and its on an N Plate?at the moment im using Castrol GTX 15-40,it says for cars with over 75,000 on the clock?whats the best oil to use ????

- on another note, don't use castrol gtx magnatec in your valver, they don't like it & you car will sound like a tractor !

So if i walked into halfords now, whats the best oil to buy for my valver,im confused now,bearing in mind my car has 95,000 miles on clock?and if i buy ur recommended oil how often should i change the oil?and filter?cheers guys,Liam

Oil should be changed every 6k. You can use either a semi synthetic or fully synthetic. I have owned my valver since 44k and now on 118k. I used to get oil done at National Tyres as they did filter and Duckhams QXR semi for 15 quid. Total 7000 semi or 9000 which you can get from GSF with cliosport discount is good. Never had a problem with Halfords own stuff either and sometimes on offer.

Best oil I have used is Castrol RS or Silkolene Pro S. Now using the latter which I stocked up with when on special offer at Opie Oils. Mobil 1 is not worth it, especially the Motorsport 15w50 version.

You want a 5w40 as the lower the number the better protection you have from start up. Don't need to go above 40 which is the high temp rating and 0w is apparently over kill for low start temp in this country.

Im confused now,il go to halfords later,what oil shall i buy?i dont undestand synthetics lol i thought fully synthetic oil was for newer cars,so can u just tell me a grade etc n ill go get some,lol,remembering my car has covered 95,000 miles,Cheers
