Valver subframe

ibe been offered a 96 valver thats been kerbed badly and the subframe is bent. question is, how much do you lot think it should cost to supply and fit a new one? can it be changed without dropping the engine?

2 people I know did this! First one got a new frame which was like £250. The second one got a second hand one for £40 from a scrappy!

Alot to put in too! looking at 250 to do it at a cheap place!

It will more than likely need a new lower arm to go with it as well!

its dirt cheap but i would have to get a garage to do the subframe, everything else i could do myself..

I got a 172 to subframe for £100, was £450 from renault, but got it from www.cit-ren.co.uk. £110 including delivary. Have used an A frame to lower tne subframe with suspension and then rasied the chasis up. assuming that the design is similar, it is a fairly big, job which at a garage would cost some serious money, you not got any mates who are mechancis????

hmm...might change my mind about buying it then.. sounds like a lot of work but then again its very tempting for £1k

If its 50 quid then buy it. For a grand, no way. Let me say that again. NO WAY< LEAVE IT ALONE!!! YOu can pick up a better condition one for less than that if youre lucky and certainly for around the same money and a bit more, you can get a good valver nowadays.

If youre handy and have the tools and experience to do the job for virtually nothing except the cost of a new subframe then its worth it. Otherwise stay away from this one

Though if its a 96, then its an M or N reg, suppose whether its worth it depends on the mileage and condtion of other bits such as interior, bodywork. Also find out whether its listed.

its a 1996 n reg, 81k with lots of goodies like superchip, full magnex stainless exhaust etc, long mot and tax. hpi clear. whats would that be worth fixed? £3500?

I paid £1350 for a high millage M reg one. Dont think anyone could justify spending 2k more for 30k less on the clock!

Not me anyway!

I looked on Autotrader and couldnt find one 1996 valver in the whole country for less than £2250 and that one was bog standard and high mileage. An M reg for £1350 is a absolute steal mate..jammy git! lol

Clio 16v pricing is strange, as long as the car is fairly honest and looked after they hold there value great, but because they have a reputation for being temperamental and pricy to fix, tatty ones fetch not a lot of money and are hard to sell. for 1k it is probably well worth it in my opinion, as I dont think changing the subframe would be that bad. If the bolts arent too siezed, its a nuts and bolts job, dropping it, but leaving engine and suspension in place. However a car lift would ideally be required. You know with all these goddies on it, offer the guy 800, and split it.

Yeah, I was gonna get a K reg but this turned up just in time! I would have been a fool not to go for it!
