Did a search for this on here but could not find anything!

Whats the good points and the bad points for buying either of these cars?

I have got about 2k to spend on the car and the difference in insurance between the 2 is about £400.

In you were in my shoes what would you be looking at getting?

CHEERS

  Trophy
Williams everytime!
Good points and bad points are going to be identical as they are virtually the same car but the Williams is just that little bit more special.
Only reason someone normally chooses the 16v over the Willy is due to Insurance but that doesn't seem too much of an issue with you.

  Valver..
...i have a valver...If i had the choice i would have had a williams..coz of the extra power.. but as matt says there aint much in it...the Valvers rev to more...err..cant think any off the top of my head...

I paid £1500 for my valver with 54k on the clock..i got a really good deal, but i just think the bloke wanted to get shot of the car coz he was in deit or something...

Just look out for rust and signs to show thats its been ragger..!! i would take your time look at a few, and dont jump into buyin one...plus it will be the best car you would have brought! :D

Willy is faster and has more torque throughout the rev range. Personally my ideal choice would be a valver with a willy widetrack and willy engine as you can then mod it any way you like, but with a willy I don't think I could bring myself to alter it from standard. As a straight choice though I would take a williams everytime if I could afford the insurance.

williams everytime.....more power/torque and wide track not to mention the more special ownership experience.

for the money uv got to spend.id say valver tbh.

if u get a willy, u want a good un, 2k isnt really gunna get u one of the best uns tbh.

whereas a valver.....can pick em up fairly cheap now, and money saved on purchase can be spent on mods.

if u had a bit more to spend on actual purchase.....williams evry time.

Yeah as said mate for the money you've got, you best really go for a valver. Could pick up a nice late one for around 2k aswell.

If you buy a shed either way i.e a valver for much less than 2k or less than 3 to 3.5k on a willy you'll be dipping in your pocket all the time i rekon.

i was in the same situation last week, decided to get a valver as there cheaper to pick up and i wanted the car for track use and i couldnt bring me self to strip a williams and change it, got a nice valver for £600, needs a bit of work on it, but its alot of fun to drive.

from standard there is no great difference between the two not performance wise the williams has slightly better handling only really noticable on track due to the wider front track they just have a nice bit of extra torque value on being a ltd edition does'nt mount up nowadays but a gooden will cost around 2.8k as aposed to a valver around 1.4k and three groups between them on insurance 16v(14) willy(17);)

  williams and trophy
tbh..once 3rd is selected...a good williams will pretty much pull away from a good valver.probly at a rate of a car length a gear. then once 5th is selected......the williams will just keep pulling away

in a straight line

round the twisties.....the extra torque comes in very helpful.

0-60 etc theres very litle in em, but u have to hit 3rd in the williams to hit 60, whereas the valver will hit 60 in 2nd.

so, you haven't actually driven a Williams then? the difference is massively noticable even on the road with a s**t driver like me! performance wise to 60, but after that the difference is pretty large, the pull is constant from 3rd onwards.

... however, £2k will only get you a tired abused Williams, you want one that's had the suspension replaced completely at least once in the last 6 years imo

Nope, valver is group 12.

If you want to be able to modiffy it slightly get a valver or hybrid, if you want something a bit more special get a williams.

now ive been told this by others but according to my insurance company and numerous car mags and websites its 14:S

Direct Line have it as 14 and Williams as 18 last time I renewed my (ex) valver and Willy insurance... the valver cost me as much as the Willy, but it had zero NCD on that policy and 6 on the Williams.

Jamesy, driving and owning them are completely different, I let some of my trusted mates drive my car, but they dont drive it like I would... well, unless it's 2 live, but he knows my car better than I do probably.
