Can't get points for numberplates though

£30 fine and that's it I believe, though they can report you to DVLA and on a third offence revoke it and put it on a Q-plate, though I've never actually heard of it happening...

Nope, £100, they can (and often do) revoke the plate and if they suspect that you are trying to avoid having your vehicle identified for a nefarious purpose, they will find something else to stick you with too. Illegal window tints, substandard brakes etc. Bloke at the place we used to work got 6 points for uneven tread wear on 2 tyres and a total of just over £200 in misc fines when they gave his chavvy Saxo the once over.

Don't do it - it looks s**t and attratcs needless plod attention.

If you're polite, I doubt many cops would do you for having 1 space in an otherwise perfectly legal numberplate.
