Very dodgy experience!

Was queing up last night for a performance in Bristol and the hill was like steep as anything, most of the cars going up it you could either smell the clutches burning or even worse some of the cars were smoking!!!!!

Now after seeing that I was not taking any risks and just used the handbrake as it looked like a lot of cars were not well. By the time parked up in the car park ( it was a massive queue) i could smell some burning from my car (i think) no smoke, parked it up and it did smell like the clutch had been burning a little. I was hardly keeping it on bite, only to get started, i find with the clio 172 you need to give it some revs anyway to get away cuz i find it quite low revving....could there be a lot of damage or a little clutch buurning o.k to forget? Never smelt it or experienced it with the car before but the hill was very very steep!!! and it was start stop start stop, were even some cars wrapped in clutch burning smoke!!! everyone was choking walking on the paths!

So i just really want to know if the damage has been done? All my gear changes seem to be fine and smooth but dont want to risk anything lol.!!

Wow i didnt get smoke but i was worried about the cars who did!! i guess thats re-assuring, i thought there was a possiblity of burning the clutch by doing that, i guess it would take quite a lot then?
