Vibration issues

  197
I've got a vibration problem that's getting gradually worse - It basically feels like I'm driving with square wheels (they're not bent at all).

I can feel vibration through the whole car - steering, seat and pedals at pretty much all speeds however it gets worse at higher speeds. At motorway speed the steering wheel starts to wobble side to side, like the wheels are out of balance - but they aren't, I've had them checked multiple times by different people and recently had 2 new tyres - also tried swapping wheels front to back - nadda.

If I drive over some rough road it feels like the car is hopping, it's especially bad on the stuff approaching roundabouts (sorry, no idea what it's called), feels like the front wheels are going to fall off.

I've had the entire front end checked a few months ago including drive shafts but all was fine. Just seems to keep getting worse to the point where over the last week it's pretty unbearable and I'm hesitant to drive it.

If I let some air out of the tyres I get less vibration and given that it gets worse on rougher surfaces - would this point me toward a suspension component? It's the same whether on or off the throttle and if I dip the clutch - so I presume I can discount transmission/clutch etc?

It's been to a local specialist and local dealer but they can't diagnose it. This was a few months ago now so maybe it's worth a trip back.

Any last ditch ideas for me? I'm VERY close to just getting rid for a Scirocco because it's been like this for about a year now.

Apologies for the long post, just trying to be as descriptive as I can. I'm losing it, lol, ready to set fire to the damn thing and cut my losses.

Does it just do it when in gear and you are accelerating?

If you coast is the vibration still there?

Yep it's still there if I:

- Coast in gear
- Coast in neutral
- Coast with clutch pedal depressed

Vibration gets less as you slow down however is still noticeable.

Ah, reason I asked is I had an un diagnosable vibration which turned out to be the gearbox diff, but only when the car was on power.

Have you checked the ball joints?

Check the 4 bolts that are holding the front subframe are tight. If they are a little loose it does this.

Have you got aftermarket wheels? If so are they correcr fitment and have the correct spigot rings fitted?
