Video camera Velbon tripod + Nikon D40x SLR ?

Hi there

Went to car boot sale on Sunday and got a tripod for five quid obviously since I had no idea what I bough it does not fit my camera.

Tripod has this head: Velbon PH-248


But the top quick release plate is missing. Velbon website says that this quick release plate will fit: Velbon QB-4L

The problem is that all available plates has this "video pin" and from what I see my Nikon does not have a place for any pin underneath. Is there any way I can make this tripod work with my SLR except cutting the video pin ?

Is the pin not spring loaded?

Both of you were right lads. The pin is spring loaded & detachable ) Already have been playing with the tripod and the camera to get a puppy some nice pics. Bugger does not want to stand still
