a good high quality wax will be as lasting as most sealants, depends what wax you are going to be using, if ur car is used heavily like mine i would go down the sealant route but adding a cleaner will help it bond better, i use prima amigo glaze as my slight cleaner b4 jeffs and it works a treat and really cleans the paint well
i use jeffs carnauba but the acyrlic is pretty much the same, Rich has some photos somewhere of his with jeffs on it, purple haze is a fantastic wax compared to onyx i wouldnt know. People rate both waxes and i ASSUMe there is minimal difference, but on DW it is split but possibly more towards the Dodo, but it is the in thing at the moment and alot of hype around it so a tad biased
On well polished paint - Menzerna FF etc the CF will add nothing to the paints look, just will ensure the surface is properly prepped and oil free to allow the Wax to bond properly. A needed step to get the most out of your Swissvax's durability.
I am not bothered about sealants these days on the 182 as BOS should see at least 12 weeks protection.
My daily car however is wearing Jeffs AGT and Zymol Titanium.
Rich - have you tried Sonus Paint Cleaner before, works a charm and for Ali, smells of citrusy goodness!
But do these cleaners have any abrassive particles in them, e.g. do they polish at all? I find SRP or the Sonus are equally good for surface preparation, but obviously one is labelled a polish and the other a cleaner?
I have works well too. They all seem to have some form of cleaners in them, some are chemical rather than abrassive though, and some just fill. They are certainly not a pure glaze like Megs #7.
The CF and HD Cleanse are both formulated to allow there waxes to bond with clean paint.
Cool cheers Rich. Might have to invest in some of the Swissvax cleaner then...yet ANOTHER product If only I wasn't a student right now, thats like my food for the week lol...Actually, I need that money to live.
Wait, one more question: I normally use sealant on my car ,especially now when I am at uni and can't clean it that often. This being the case, is there still an advantage in the SW PC, as obviously there will be layers of products in between it and the wax, and the sealants I use are synthetic rather than caranuba. Although I have been thinking of getting the Jeffs Caranuba spray sealant, the accrylic version is brilliant.
