Virgin TV V6 Box

Does anyone have one of the above? And if so, is it worth upgrading to?

I am reluctant to chuck £50 or whatever it is at it if it isn't worth the outlay.

Can't say I've tried one myself bit from what I've seen of it (which admittly isn't a lot)the new box just has more tuners inside to record more channels at once, great idea in theory but if it's anything like their previous TiVo boxes you'll just end up with 5 times the amount of phantom recordings on your HDD...

Digitalspy forums might be a good place to look into it.

Just had mine installed.. @.Adam. Didn't pay anything to have it installed, and got a bit of cash off the monthly bill too.

First impressions are that it's what the old box should have bloody been ! Very fast, responsive, otherwise all very similar / identical to the TiVo box looks wise.

Size of the box is about 1/3 of the old one ! It's tiny compared to the TiVo.

Turn off the suggestions and it won't record the 95% of shite you don't want  Oh and turn the bloody popping noises off too !!

Brilliant, cheers for that! Were you an existing customer?

I am keen to get one, but reluctant to fork out the money on it at the moment. The current box is a pile of s**t though! Its near enough unusable.

Yep had TiVo for 4 years.

Call them up and moan. If they ask for money tell them to jog on...

I have the V6 box. I only got it as the current normal tivo box is so slow its unbearable and frankly shouldn't be allowed to be used with Virgin its woeful.

The new v6 box is so fast really quick and suddenly everything you couldn't be bothered to do is a lot easier and quicker it exceeded my expectations in this regard.

However i feel we shouldn't be paying for it since its practically the same albeit its faster and 4k compatible (netflix, you tube and bbc i player 4k demo) of which all but the latter is most probably on your new 4k tv so kind of makes those features some what redundant.

I paid the £50 and i'm glad i did now as the whole tv experience is so much better i was ready to throw in the towel. Just a shame we don't have any 4k proper channel content im guessing that will come in time once sky decide to give virgin some content. At the minute its sky's selling point so can understand why they aren't giving anything away.

Generally surprised by this, i heard they were giving no money off there was no reduction £15 installation and £50 for the box if your a top tv package customer. Im guessing you have better haggling skills than me or they have started to be more lenient lol.
